VVV and DIEM: Venice sells compute capacity, not credits
MetaMask explains $VVV, VeniceStats measures the week: Venice is betting on private inference as transferable capacity.

There is a moment when a project stops being a curiosity for those who follow it and becomes something the big wallets feel the need to explain. For Venice that moment takes the shape of a MetaMask thread on $VVV.
The wallet explains the token
According to MetaMask’s post of 24 September, still doing the rounds in the following days, $VVV is “the Venice token on Base”, with a precise job: to link a wallet to private AI inference. The sentence is more interesting than the token itself, because it describes a mental model: not an asset to speculate on, but an access key.
VVV, sVVV, DIEM: who does what
Venice’s official documentation confirms the structure. VVV is the founding token, on Base; you stake it to get sVVV; sVVV is locked to mint DIEM; each staked DIEM is worth a dollar a day of API credit, with the allowance renewing at midnight UTC. Genesis supply: one hundred million tokens, half distributed between users and agents. VeniceStats recorded the emissions cut from three million to two and a half million VVV a year.
When inference is paid for in tokens
The most concrete detail is in @venicestats’ weekly thread: two of its lines are written by AI inference paid for in $DIEM. This is not a lab demonstration, it is a bill that gets settled every week. Meanwhile, according to the same account, in the week from 18 to 25 September Venice moved around 2.57 million impressions from 2,794 posts, with 1,048 accounts never seen before talking about the project.
The product, beyond the token
Staying only on the token would be a mistake. Until 30 September Wan 3.0 Pro is 30 per cent off on Venice: a reminder that beneath the token-economics there is a catalog of models, and that the bet is on selling compute capacity, not prepaid credits.
In the taxonomy of inference tokens — TAO for the marketplace, ATH for distributed GPU, NEAR for confidential inference, according to @HazeFund’s reading — VVV stands out for a simple thesis: owning the capacity and being able to transfer it. If a wallet is now explaining it to its own users, perhaps that thesis has stopped being a niche.
