Every month Venice buys VVV on the market with part of its revenue and burns it. It is a mechanical gesture, almost boring, repeated with clockwork punctuality. But when the bill passes half a million dollars, the mechanism stops being a footnote and becomes the news.

The largest burn ever

On 7 October Venice’s Safe multisig burned 16,124 VVV, worth 415,720 dollars at the time of the operation: the largest discretionary burn ever executed, and the eighth consecutive month of growth. The independent tracker VeniceStats confirms it and places the previous record in September, at 391,480 dollars. The signal points one way: burns rise while annual emissions fall, down from 3 to 2 million VVV with the September and October cuts. On top of the discretionary burn come the automatic ones — 2 dollars for each new Pro subscriber, 5 for Pro+, 10 for Max, plus 5 dollars for every 100 in credits purchased.

Claude Haiku 5.5, in anonymous form

On the product side, on 7-8 October Venice made Claude Haiku 5.5 available, Anthropic’s compact model, accessible in anonymous mode. The official page lists a 1 million token context and a price of 0.13 dollars per million for input and 0.63 for output. It is the first Haiku with adjustable effort — a novelty aimed at high-volume agentic work, where cost per task matters as much as quality. In the same window MiniMax H3 Max Recast entered the catalogue, the video-to-video model that replaces people in a clip with reference photos, keeping the original movement, editing and audio.

Lending against VVV, without intermediaries

The official account then announced that Tenor OTC accepts VVV as collateral for fixed-rate peer-to-peer loans: a way to give liquidity to token holders without making them sell. Market data, however, tell a story of correction: VVV trades around 24.8 dollars, down about 8% in 24 hours, with a market cap close to 1.2 billion and more than 850 million dollars of VVV staked, roughly 70% of the market cap.

Burning while building

Venice keeps doing two things at once: shrinking supply and widening the product surface. The logic is coherent, but the verdict hangs on a single variable: whether real usage will grow enough to sustain burns of this size, month after month.
